Walk Cycle Animation
I’m getting into the 3D art and design space a bit more as a hobby, and today I’m trying to work with animation - specifically a simple walk cycle. I’m fresh into learning about art in general, so please don’t make fun of me I can’t take it (/s).
James Vega from Mass Effect 3 is my model for this exercise, because he’s bara-level beefy - which certainly helps when I have to stare at him for extended periods of time.
Here’s my attempt at a walk cycle. It’s… not great. But this is my first attempt, so I’m happy to at least have done something. Gotta start somewhere.
Things to improve:
- Learn what walking is (the motion is way wrong)
- Improve motion subtlety
- Timing (it’s very even)
- Loop (the end doesn’t match the start)
- Move the hips and shoulders properly
- Align the head to point forward
Will try again soon.
